 Poroshenko ordered not to purge former head of Kyiv police Tereshchuk

President Petro Poroshenko protected ex-Chief of Kyiv police Oleksandr Tereshchuk against “lustration”.

This is stated in the presidential decree №388 / 2015, Censor.NET informs citing the press office of the president.

"With respect to the need to ensure the defensive capability of the State, I decree to grant a petition, which was agreed with the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, concerning the non-application of measures envisaged by the Part 3 of the Article 4 of the 1st Law of Ukraine "on the cleansing of the ranks of power" which prohibits a person to hold the office which was subject to purging (lustration), against Police Major General Oleksandr Tereshchuk," the document reads.

It is also noted that the decree comes into force today July 3, 2015.
