According to the report, the Special Investigation Service of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office has completed a pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on suspicion of two deputy regiment commanders and two commanders of operational troops of Berkut special police regiment of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv in the commission of criminal offenses under Art. 340 (hampering rallies and meetings); Art. 365 (abuse of power resulting in grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The accusation has been taken to the Shevchenkivskyi district court of Kyiv to be considered substantially.
It is also noted that the heads of the special police regiment are suspected in the following. Despite being aware of legal nature of protests on Maidan, with no court decisions banning rallies and demanding to leave Maidan, ... they acted in the interests of the state leadership and followed the order, although realizing its criminal nature and socially dangerous consequences in the form of harm to the health of citizens. The PGO reminds that after 4 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2013, a force crackdown on the protesters was carried out with participation of the Berkut special police regiment.
