Frozen conflict in the Donbas is advantageous for Putin, - Khodorkovsky

Russian oppositionist Mikhail Khodorkovsky announced that neither halt nor escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine is advantageous for Russian President Vladimir Putin at the moment.

This was announced by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform.

"End of the conflict in the Eastern Ukraine is not a good solution for the Russian authorities, for Vladimir Putin in particular, at the moment. For number of nationalists who are currently deployed there will not be grateful to Putin upon return to Russia," Khodorkovsky said.

However, he also suggests that "enlargement of the conflict zone is not a winning situation for him (Putin - ed.) as well, because the number of these potentially destabilizing elements will only increase."

According too Khodorkovsky, the freezing of the Donbas conflict might be a solution to this matter for Putin.

"I believe that freezing of the conflict will be a solution to this matter at this stage, and unfortunately, this is the only real solution as of now, as for me," Russian oppositionist noted.
