It would not be possible to implement Minsk agreement in eastern Ukraine without peacekeeping force, - Bildt

It would not be possible to settle the conflict in Eastern Ukraine without a peacekeeping force.

This was announced by former Swedish Foreign Minister Karl Bildt in his Twitter, Censor.NET reports citing eurointegration.com.ua.

"I fail to see that it would be possible to implement the Minsk agreement in eastern Ukraine without a peacekeeping force in place," Bildt twitted.

"The so called people's republics DNR & LNR are ganglands without either law or order. Free and fair elections hardly possible," he announced.

"OSCE has experience from Balkans in running elections in conflict areas. Same policies should apply in Eastern Ukraine," former Swedish foreign minister noted.

"Peacekeeping operation in eastern Ukraine could follow model of UN in eastern Slavonia. Russia would veto today. But tomorrow?" Bildt wrote.

As reported earlier, European Council President Donald Tusk announced that it would not be possible to reach an agreement in the European Union on deployment of EU security mission in the east of Ukraine.
