Soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian armed forces in Togliatti have been banned from using mobile phones and ordered to delete their accounts on social networks at least until the summer.

This is stated by Dozhd TV channel citing a source, Censor.NET reports.

The journalists were told that the use of social networks by GRU soldiers was banned "at least until the summer."

"The privates were ordered to hand over all mobile gadgets, delete the profiles on social networks and do not even contact their parents. When asked about the time these restrictions will be in force, they were told by the end of summer," the media reports.

The source of the channel said that the restrictions were introduced after the incident with journalist Timur Olevskiy, who filmed a report near the installation.

On May 16 during a combat clash near the town of Shchastia, soldiers of the 92nd mechanized brigade detained two Russian commandos from a sabotage and reconnaissance group - Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev.

They claim that they are servicemen of the GRU unit from Togliatti.
