Komorowski acknowledged defeat in Poland’s presidential elections


Current President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski acknowledged his defeat in the second round of presidential elections and congratulated Andrzej Duda on his victory.

"My friends, it did not work out. The voters decided this way. Democracy is not only a recognition of the results, but also respect of the election results. Congratulations to Andrzej Duda! I congratulate him on the result and wish him a successful presidency! I wish him a successful presidency, because I wish good for Poland," Komorowski stated in his headquarters after the announcement of the exit poll results.

The second round of presidential elections was held in Poland on Sunday. The ballot included current leader of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski (with the support of the country's ruling party Civic Platform) and candidate of the country's largest opposition party "Law and Justice" Andrzej Duda.

According to the exit poll of the IPSOS research center, Andrzej Duda received 53.0% of the vote while Bronislaw Komorowski received 47.0%.
