PGO sees no tragedy that EU to lift sanctions against some officials of Yanukovych regime

Prosecutor General's Office advise not to go and make tragedy out of a possible lifting of the sanctions imposed by the EU against Yanukovych regime officials through the lack of materials from Ukraine.

Prosecutor General's Office Department for Special Investigations Head Serhii Horbatiuk said in an interview with Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.

"I think that in this case we only console ourselves with the thought that Europe has imposed sanctions. Their point was to freeze the assets in banks until the time when the investigators prove the guilt of a person and receive court's decision on the arrest of funds and property owned by the person, pass the information to the country where the accounts were blocked to formally arrest them. Lukash, Tabachnyk and Yanukovych Jr. do not have their funds blocked by the European sanctions as the accounts of these persons in foreign banks were not established," he said.

It should be reminded that according to Verkhovna Rada deputy Yehor Sobolev (Samopomich faction), the Prosecutor General's Office contributes to lifting of sanctions imposed against Yanukovych's cronies. In particular, the European Union will lift sanctions against Verkhovna Rada deputy Serhii Kliuiev and former Azarov's government ministers Olena Lukash and Dmytro Tabachnyk June 6, as PGO investigators have not still served them with a notice on suspicion.
