Klyuyev says he is innocent and denies all charges

Verkhovna Rada Deputy Serhii Klyuyev deflected accusations brought by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

The MP told RBC-Ukraine correspondent on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET reports.

"I deny all the charges issued against me and plead not guilty under this case, and these articles. The charges of the Prosecutor General's Office lack evidence, while no crime has been committed. I have no other explanation for these accusations other than political motivation," he said.

"The absence of a crime in my and my brother Andrii's actions was confirmed by the results of the independent investigation conducted by the U.S. Freeh Group, founded by former FBI director Louis Freeh, with participation of former FBI agents under the supervision of Mr. Freeh. Besides, that evidence, on which the criminal case is based, has been recognized by an independent Austrian court as an admission which is not enough to bring charges," Klyuyev said.

The Verkhovna Rada deputy also said that everyone who wanted to, had left the country in February last year, while he has been in Ukraine all this time. "And I was at my workplace, in the hall of the Verkhovna Rada, the day when the Prosecutor General said that the police had no clue where I was then. I answered all the Prosecutor General's Office requests, was not hiding and am not going to hide from the prosecution. I provided the investigation with comprehensive evidence," the MP said.
