Defense Ministry’s main task is transition to new standard of combat readiness. The army is ready to defend Ukraine – Minister of Defense Poltorak

One of the main problems that the Defense Ministry is faced with is the transition of the army to the new standards of military readiness.

This was stated by Minister of Defense Stepan Poltrak in his report on 100 days of the new Cabinet, Censor.NET reports.

"The main priority of the Defense Ministry is the creation of mobile, highly trained armed forces," Poltorak said.

According to the minister, a partial reform of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff has already been conducted with 12 departments restructured and four disbanded.

"A candidate pool of 1,472 ATO servicemen has been created for the replacement of senior positions in the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff ... A board of volunteers has been created. The work of enlistment officers has been optimized. Only ATO participants are appointed as chief enlistment officers," Poltorak said.

He also noted that the parliament's decision to increase the army to 250,000 people is an important achievement.
