"Since the beginning of the conflict in mid-April 2014 and until 19 February 2015, at least 5,793 people (including 63 children) were killed and 14,595 (including 169 children) were wounded in the East of Ukraine," the report reads.

As reported, the statistics includes the data about Ukrainian soldiers killed received from Kyiv, 298 passengers of the downed Malaysian Boeing, and information about casualties provided by hospitals of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Given this, the UN believes the real number of the war casualties to be much higher.

More than a million people have been displaced within Ukraine, while indiscriminate shelling continues in the east of Ukraine despite the cease-fire, according to the UN report.

As of Feb. 7, according to data from the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, 5,638 people were killed in the Donbas war since April 2014.
