The Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine arrested two former Berkut riot police officers today, as the inquiry on Euromaidan participants’ execution on Instytutska Street in Kyiv Feb. 20, 2014 progresses.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Avakov wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

He wrote: "The investigating bodies conducted 18 searches holding the inquiry with regard to 20 former Berkut riot police officers, during which they seized evidence directly related to the crime.

"Both detainees, as well as 18 wanted officers served in the so-called "black company of Berkut," which received criminal order from then-Minister of Interior Zakharchenko on Feb. 20, 2014 to use firearms against peaceful Euromaidan participants and opened fire at people.

"The investigators piece together the picture of this tragic day.

"Yes, it is not easy to establish the truth while many participants are on the run but it will not last for eternity. The prosecution is inevitable: everyone including Yanukovych and Zakharchenko as well as those who fulfilled the order brutally pulling the trigger and slaying peaceful people, will be punished step by step."
