The French president stated that he discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine with Merkel and that they are now more convinced that the Minsk agreement must be respected by all parties.
He was supported by Merkel who noted that in contrast to the first Minsk Agreement, now everything is clearly spelled out and no one can hide behind vague wording. In her opinion, no one should have any illusions: the peace process will be difficult and time-consuming.
In turn, Hollande stated that it is another and practically last chance for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine after the signing of the Minsk Agreement calling on everyone not to miss it.
Merkel summed up saying that they would do everything possible to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
The meeting between the two leaders was held at the Elysee Palace and lasted an hour and a half. In addition to the issue of Ukrainian, the parties discussed the preparations for the summit of G& leaders, scheduled for Jun. 7-8+.
