The leaders of Germany, France and Russia are to discuss a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas.
Yesterday Merkel and Hollande paid a visit to Kyiv, where they together with President Petro Poroshenko discussed the situation in the Donbas. Following the meeting with Poroshenko leaders of Germany and France announced that they would go to Moscow to continue the negotiations with the president of Russia.
On the eve of her departure for Moscow Merkel said that she was not sure that today's talks in Moscow with Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin would lead to a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine, saying that further negotiations might be needed.
According to her, it is not known whether the Moscow talks would be long or short stating that they would try to do what they must to resolve the conflict and stop the bloodshed.
She also stressed that any decision on Ukraine should be focused on the Minsk plan.
