Turchynov wants to toughen penalties for failure to fulfill defense contracts: 'You took the order, you do it'

The National Security Council is initiating tightening of criminal liability for failure to fulfill Ukraine's defense contracts by enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

This was stated by the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov on Channel 5, Censor.NET reports.

Turchynov noted that during the year with the restoration of the army came the restoration of the military-industrial complex.

"One of the objectives we set for the defense industry and to executive authorities, the Cabinet of Ministers is the maximum load of the domestic military-industrial complex," he stressed.

The NSDC Secretary noted that the results of 2014 show that Ukraine has a lot of backlog due to the fact that many domestic enterprises take up contracts but cannot deliver them. "They took the money, and then say they do not have time, that they need additional financing. We are not interested in problems, we are interested in high-quality, modern weapons," he said.

"Many Ukrainian enterprises switched to the fulfillment of orders in round the clock mode. We will support these businesses. Not a penny that is not embodied in the result will be given to anybody. You took the order, you do it," Turchynov said.

The Security Council Secretary stressed that the main task is to make most of the weapons in Ukraine. "We need to revive the once-powerful military-industrial complex, which we had in this country, and not just to produce weapons, but make modern, high-quality things, such as BTR-3 and BTR-4 (APCs - ed.)," Oleksandr Turchynov concluded.
