IMF impressed by Ukraine's determination to implement economic reform agenda

First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF David Lipton stated that the plans for economic reforms in Ukraine made a good impression on the delegation of the fund.

Mr. Lipton arrived to Kyiv on Friday and met with President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arsenii Yatsenyuk, Censor.NET informs citing the press release of Lipton's statement.

"I visited Kyiv on Dec. 13, for meetings with the president, prime minister and their new economic team. I was impressed by their vision for an economic transformation of Ukraine, and by their commitment to decisive, front-loaded implementation of their reform agenda," he said.

The IMF provided a $17 billion loan to Ukraine. It was the first tranche of the $27 billion financial aid to the state. The second part of the loan should be received by Ukraine in Jan. 2015.
