 4,634 People Killed by Russian Terrorists in Donbas – UN


At least 4,634 people were killed and more than 10,000 wounded as a result of fighting in eastern Ukraine.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports, Censor.NET writes.

"At least 4,634 killed…and 10,243 wounded in eastern Ukraine as of 7 December," the OCHA said in a Friday Ukraine Situation Report, which covers the period between November 29 and December 12, 2014.

Over 542,000 have been internally displaced and over 567,000 have fled to neighboring countries as of December 12, the OCHA said in its situation report.

According to the representative of Ukraine Yaroslav Holitsyn who spoke at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, an estimated 5.2 million people currently live in the conflict-affected areas of Ukraine, which is approximately one ninth of the country's total population.

According to Holitsyn, the Ukrainian government does everything possible to restore the areas that have returned under Ukrainian control. "From the very beginning of the crisis we are trying to do everything in our power to alleviate the situation. The government immediately set up mechanisms to provide assistance to the population in the conflict-affected areas. Special attention is paid to internally displaced persons and the participants of the anti-terrorist operation".

Earlier Censor.NET reported that more than five million Ukrainians live in the conflict-affected areas of the country.
