The author of the document is Senator Robert Menendez. The Senate has unanimously supported Ukraine Freedom Support Act. The bill designates Ukraine as major non-NATO ally, providing assistance to Ukraine for the military, defense, energy, and civilian sectors, and internally displaced persons. In addition, the bill provides the imposition of new sanctions against Russia.

"The House of Representatives has yet to adopt its own version of the document for it to become the law. This legislation should be made yet by the current composition of the House, whose work, according to the schedule, ends tomorrow. The lawmakers previously stated that the work of the Congress can be extended to the weekend," journalist Myroslava Gongadze wrote on Facebook. Censor.NET previously reported that the U.S. Department of the Treasury does not exclude extension of sanctions against Russia.
