 We Will Do Away With Soviet System of Benefits in Ukraine - Yatseniuk


Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk advocates the abolition of the Soviet system of benefits in Ukraine.

He said this, presenting the program of the Cabinet at a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Censor.NET reports citing the official website of the government.

According to him, to build a new social policy, in the first stage the government shall optimize social benefits. "Those who should receive them will, and those who misappropriated them and receives them at the expense of others - won't," Yatseniuk said.

He noted that the Cabinet aims to switch to targeting and monetization of benefits and a corresponding bill will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

The Cabinet's program aims at integrating the activities of a number of social funds "to reduce the administrative costs of social funds by 600 million hryvnia, and improve their performance."

According to Yatseniuk, the program also provides for the elimination of inefficient benefits, for which changes to 25 statutes are required.

The website of the Cabinet does not report which benefits may be canceled.
