"The constant attacks of the terrorists and the Russian servicemen on the Donetsk airport can be explained by its strategic importance - according to the Minsk agreements heavy weapons should be withdrawn 15 km away from the line of contact," Lysenko clarified.
Since the airport is located almost in the city, the militants will have to withdraw weapons abandoning almost half of Donetsk.
Earlier, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said that there are fierce combats between the militants and the Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk airport and the Ukrainian servicemen will not leave the facility.
"There is tough confrontation between the armed criminals, terrorists and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk airport. The situation there is tense but stable," he told the reporters in Kyiv on Friday.
Meanwhile, the ATO forces registered three military convoys entering from Russia to the territory controlled by the terrorists.
"Russia continues to deploy troops in the Donbas," Lysenko said.
According to him, the movement of three Russian military convoys was registered for the past 24 hours, in particular, one of them consisted of 150 trucks, 10 fuel tankers and six armored vehicles and another convoy - of 40 vehicles including oil tankers.
Unfortunately, according to Lysenko, the Ukrainian Army has lost six soldiers and 13 more were injured over the past day.
