Verkhovna Rada Is Outraged by Kremlin’s Punitive Operation in Ichkeria: "Russian Federation Must Immediately Cease Fire and Start Negotiations with Chechen Activists"


Moscow was urged to cease hostilities immediately and withdraw its punitive forces killing civilians from the territory of the People's Republic of Ichkeria.

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy (People's Front faction), the former deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine Andrii Levus expressed his outrage by the Kremlin authorities' punitive operation against human rights movement 'Imarate Kavkaz' in Grozny, Censor.NET reports citing Liga.

"I express my deep concern and indignation by the methods that Kremlin punitive forces used to deal with 'Imarate Kavkaz' human rights activists. The Chechen rebels are fighting for the observance of their constitutional rights, in particular, for the actual federalization of Russia up to the implementation of the constitutionally guaranteed right to self-determination through a referendum," the deputy said.

He stressed that "the Kremlin junta once again did violence to human and civil rights." "Moscow should hear the Caucasus and begin negotiations with the Chechen activists," the politician urged.

Levus noted that Minsk is the best place for the negotiations and Ukraine is ready to become talks' moderator.

"Moscow must immediately cease hostilities and withdraw from the territory of the People's Republic of Ichkeria its punitive forces killing civilians. The civilized world must support the people of Ichkeria and send humanitarian convoys to the Caucasus to avoid humanitarian catastrophe," the deputy advocated.
