Russia Needed Cease-fire in Donetsk Airport to Pick Up Their Dead, Ex-Commander of Peacemaker Battalion Says

A short-term cease-fire in the Donbas was necessary for the Russian military to pick up the bodies of their numerous victims.

This was stated by MP, former commander of the volunteer battalion Myrotvorets (Peacemaker) Andrii Teteruk, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"I think that this short-term truce was beneficial only for picking up the bodies of the dead, because the Russian special forces suffered heavy losses," he said.

Teteruk stated that, for example, the best equipment and a large number of Russian troops, including elite ones were engaged in attempt to capture the Donetsk airport.

At the same time, the ex-commander is convinced that Ukraine still did the right thing by agreeing to the truce.

"We need to understand that the war has many bad sides, but becoming animals and not allowing to bury the dead is inhuman," Teteruk said.
