Zelenskyi proposes holding his inauguration as president on May 19

President-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi has written a letter to Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andrii Parubii regarding the date of his inauguration as the country's new leader.

Censor.NET reports citing his Facebook post

"In the face of foreign aggression, it is extremely important for our country to avoid a 'vacuum of power' and ensure that Ukraine's President-elect takes office as soon as possible. [...] I propose holding a solemn oath-taking meeting on May 19," Zelenskyi wrote.

Zelenskyi expressed hope that people's deputies would support his team's proposals at a parliament meeting on May 14.

Head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance Volodymyr Viatrovych, in turn, said that May 19 is an extremely unsuccessful date for the inauguration since it marks the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.
