Yanukovych congratulates Zelenskyi with election victory

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated Volodymyr Zelenskyi on his victory in the presidential election of Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing spokesman for Yanukovych’s son, Oleksandr Yanukovych, Yuriy Kirasir post on Facebook.

"I sincerely congratulate you with being elected as the President of Ukraine. Ukrainians entrusted you with this post when our country undergoes a difficult period. Peace-loving Ukrainian nation is divided and radicalized more than ever," Yanukovych’ message reads.

At the same time, the fugitive president called combat actions in Donbas "fratricidal warfare" and accused the current Head of State Petro Poroshenko of all the troubles.

Yanukovych noted that the newly elected President faces many challenges.

"To improve welfare of the Ukrainians. To replace fear and gloom of the people with hope and faith for better, to bring things which unite, and not separate," ex-president believes.

In his appeal, Yanukovych "bows low to wise Ukrainian people, who did not let someone to fool them, did not fall for provocations and lies, and made a conscious choice".

In its turn, ZeTeam informed they can do without such greetings.

"Over the election campaign, Zelenskyi’s team received the so-called support of the Russian propagandists and former Ukrainian officials. We can make it without this support and such greetings," Dmytro Razumkov, the Spokesperson of Zelenskyi’s headquarters stated.
