The chairman of the Provisional investigatory commission of Verkhovna Rada Ivan Vinnyk told journalists about probes on large-scale corruption in the defense sector of Ukraine in the period from 2004 to 2017, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
"The commission will probably come up with a decision, perhaps in the form of a bill on reformation of the Ukroboronprom. There is no intrigue: this commitment has been assumed by Ukraine, having adopted a law on national security, we must dissolve Ukroboronprom, and transfer the management of state defense enterprises to the Cabinet of Ministers", Vinnyk admitted.
In his opinion, it is necessary to eliminate the risks of corruption, which arise because "Ukroboronprom performs both regulatory and defense functions in the sphere of security and defense".
According to Vinnyk, there are already some recommendations on amendments to the law on protection of national security information, which will reduce the level of secrecy of procurement under the State defense order
