Kryvonos quits presidential race in Poroshenko’s favor

Deputy commander of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and presidential candidate Serhii Kryvonos has announced that he is withdrawing from the presidential election in favor of incumbent head of state Petro Poroshenko.

He said this on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"While the war continues and the probability of open aggression by our main enemy - the Russian Federation is too great, I had to take a balanced and simple decision to withdraw my candidacy from the race for the post of president of Ukraine. I do it to the benefit of Ukrainians and the future of the country. Now it is not the right time to replace the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," wrote Kryvonos.

The candidate noted that the main motive for his participation in the presidential campaign was disagreement with the situation in the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

"I spoke of those things some carpet knights were trying to hide, because I think that only the truth and unity will allow our state to win! During my presidential campaign, I had a working visit to the United States, where key issues on developing the country's security and defense sector were discussed," said Kryvonos.
