Ukrainian Army Ordered to Defeat Russian Mercenaries' Offensive


Ukraine is ready to act decisively in the event of the pessimistic scenario in the Donbas.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced Tuesday at the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

"Being a supporter of the peace plan, Ukraine will responsibly abide by the Minsk agreements. But this does not mean that Ukraine will not be ready to take decisive actions in case of a pessimistic, negative scenario. I, as Commander-in-Chief have given appropriate instructions to the Chief of the General Staff and the Minister of Defense. Today several new units have been formed which will allow to block a possible offensive in the direction of Mariupol - Berdiansk, in the direction of Kharkiv and north of Luhansk, in the direction of the Dnipropetrovsk region," he said.

The President noted that the plan for the construction of the fortifications of the first, second and third lines is being carried out. The supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the latest offensive and reconnaissance equipment, fire control systems efficiently continues. "And we must remember that we are able to defend our country," he stressed.

The terrorists and Russian forces shell the ATO positions daily using tanks, Grads, and grenade launchers. As a result of the attacks, dozens of Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded since early September.
