SBU Put Former Finance Minister Kolobov on Wanted List

The Security Service of Ukraine put out a bulletin for former Finance Minister Yurii Kolobov.

Censor.NET reports citing the information published on Ministry of Internal Affairs site in the section "Persons hiding from prosecution."

Kolobov is wanted by the Investigation Department of the SBU as a suspect in the crime subject to Part 5 of Article 191 (the embezzlement of property in especially big amount, or by an organized group) of the Criminal Code.

According to information, the former government official biased out of Ukrainian law enforcement officers' view Aug. 5.

The court issued permission for suspect's detention to decide whether to remand him on bail or in custody.

In addition, the SBU put the former chairman of Ukrtelecom Heorhii Dzekon on wanted list.

He is also suspected of embezzling public funds. He has disappeared from Ukrainian law enforcers' sight at the beginning of August.

As known, the General Prosecutor's Office filed criminal proceedings on the fact of embezzlement of funds of the state budget in especially big amount by former top officials of the state, ex-officials of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection, the company ESU (Kyiv), and Ukrtelecom.

Kolobov and Dzekon, as well as number of former government officials,are suspected of illegal funding of the construction of special telecommunication network from the state budget, causing losses to the state in amount of 220 million hryvnia.
