First US trade mission in 10 years arrives in Ukraine

Following a 10-year pause, Ukraine hosts the official U.S. trade mission which consists of 12 companies representing American agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and IT sector.

As mentioned during the official ceremony, the visit will last two days, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

It is planned to hold over 60 meetings with representatives of Ukrainian businesses.

Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Stepan Kubiv expressed hope that American businesses would be interested not only in the possibilities of opening new companies in Ukraine, but also take part in the privatization of state enterprises.

As a demonstration of improvements in business conditions, Kubiv said Ukraine had in recent years abolished over 14,000 obsolete standards, as well as planned to introduce European standards (1,500 per year), which should significantly improve the country's investment climate.

According to U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, it is the mission's first visit over the past decade which confirms the relations between the two countries are moving in the right direction.
