Rada criminalizes illegal border crossing

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law on amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding liability for illegal crossing of the state border.

As reported by a correspondent for Censor.NET, the relevant bill (No. 7017) was backed by 243 lawmakers.

The bill supplements Ukraine’s Criminal Code with a new article 332 - "Illegal crossing of the state border" which provides for three years in jail for crossing the state border of Ukraine by a national of the aggressor state or a person acting on behalf of the aggressor state anywhere beyond the Ukrainian border crossing points or through such points without necessary ID or using ID containing false information.

According to the Law, "the same offense committed repeatedly or in collusion with other persons provides for 3 to 5 years in prison."

The law provides for up to 8-year imprisonment for the aforementioned offenses committed by force of arms.
