No fatalities in Ukrainian army over past day, two soldiers wounded as Russian mercenaries mounted 17 attacks

The number of attacks committed by the Russian-led troops in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) zone somewhat decreased over the past 24-hour period.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the latest update by the JFO headquarters press center as of Oct. 17, combined Russian-separatist forces fired upon the Ukrainian troops’ strongholds 17 times using heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements in seven cases.

The invaders employed grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms against government forces near Katerynivka, Novoluhanske, Verkhniotoretske, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Novotroitske, Starohnativka, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Talakivka, Lebedynske and Shyrokyne.

"Russian occupying troops shelled the defenders of Talakivka from 120-mm mortars. The Joint Forces strongholds near Novoluhanske, Hnutove, Lebedynske and Shyrokyne were barraged with 82-mm mortar shells.

Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action over past day," the report reads.

Intelligence sources indicate four Russian mercenaries wounded yesterday.

"Today, Oct. 18, the enemy employed grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms twice against the Joint Forces fighters near Hnutove and Vodiane villages, the Mariupol section of the forefront. No heavy weapons were used in today’s attacks which inflicted no casualties on the Ukrainian troops," the JFO HQ said.
