UK confirms Russian spies tried to hack Kyiv subway, Odesa airport in October 2017, - Infrastructure Minister Omelian

British special services confirmed that Russian GRU military intelligence agency was involved in cyberattacks on Kyiv subway and Odesa International Airport a year ago aimed at bringing these companies down.

"The information provided by the UK’s National Cybersecurity Center confirms the involvement of the Russian GRU officers in cyberattacks on the companies in October 2017. There is no guarantee that similar attempts to disable the industry’s critical companies will not reoccur in the future," the press center of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine quoted Minister Volodymyr Omelian as saying at an operational meeting with Director of the Odesa International Airport Pavlo Prusak and Kyiv subway CEO Viktor Brahinskyi, Censor.NET reports.

Omelian stressed that Odesa-based airport and Kyiv subway were already implementing a number of cyber security projects.

The meeting participants also agreed to develop an industry-wide cyber security center created by the Infrastructure Ministry.
