Handziuk identifies her attacker: "I’ve recognized the person. All detained suspects involved without a doubt"

Adviser to Kherson mayor, activist Kateryna Handziuk, who survived acid attack in the summer, says she has recognized her assailant and believes that all the suspects the police have in custody were involved in the attack.

The activist said in an interview with Hromadske, Censor.NET reports.

She notes that she saw only one side of the attacker's face but is still able to recognize him.

"He is the one, who they say threw the acid [at me]. I identified the person they (the police - Ed.) are talking about. There is no doubt that all the detainees are involved," she said.

Asked whether she believes that those who the police now have in custody are the perpetrators, Handziuk answered in the affirmative.

As reported, Kherson City Council executive officer, Kateryna Handziuk, who tried to deal with local separatists and harshly criticized the authorities, namely the law enforcement officials, was doused with acid in Kherson early on July 31.

On Aug. 2, she was urgently taken from Kherson to Kyiv by an air ambulance.

On Aug. 3, the law enforcers detained the person suspected of perpetrating attack on the activist.
