Members of the counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out successful special operation to retrieve former "Minister of Agro-Industrial Policy and Food" of the so-called "Donetsk People’s Republic" from the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region.

A source who asked not to reveal his identity told Censor.NET that according to the information collected by the SBU, Ukrainian national K., born in 1979, joined the illegal armed formations of the self-styled republic in September 2014 and eventually accepted the proposal of terrorists’ leader Alexander Zakharchenko to head the so-called "Ministry of Agro-Industrial Policy and Food of the DPR."

Following instructions of the Russian special services, he was directly involved in manning and subsequent operation of the "ministry" as well as establishing of its close cooperation with his Russian handlers.

His tenure ended due to the conflict with Zakharchenko who violently removed anyone impeding seizure of agricultural land and purchase of agricultural products at significantly understated prices by his henchmen. The "minister" was eventually charged with "illegal handling of firearms," "abuse of office," "embezzlement" and was put in jail.

SBU is investigating his case under part 1 of article 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the source, the former "DPR official" cooperates with the investigation and provides critical evidence about the activities of the terrorist organization, Russia's direct involvement in the occupation of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He also provides the information proving that Moscow appointed and took under its total control the authorities of the so-called "DPR"; that the Russian-backed militants and their Russian handlers were involved in embezzlement of the state property, destruction of the infrastructure and the economy of the region; details on the goods delivered from Russia by the so-called "humanitarian convoys" and so on.
