The average amount of the so-called reward for the gas saved in winter is about 700 hryvnia and depends on the gas volume of the saved subsidized gas, the press office of the government quoted Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman as saying, Censor.NET reports.
The Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi regions-based social services offices were the first to start making payments. At the beginning of the heating season, those who filed a relevant application before Sept. 1 will receive reward money from the government for "reasonable" consumption of energy resources.
Those who failed to file an application with the social services offices in time for good reasons can still do this by Nov. 1.
"As we promised, the government has started monetizing grants-in-aid for those thrifty. A person who saved gas last winter will receive an average of about 700 hryvnia. The residents of the Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi regions have already started receiving compensations," the PM said.
Censor.NET memo: Equivalent of cost of 150 kilowatts of the electric power or 100 cubic meters of gas saved up by households fall under monetization if this energy was used for heating. Last year, 1,755,000 Ukrainian families received reward money for energy saving.
