President Poroshenko Signed Law on Prosecution Service: State Investigation Bureau To Operate in the Country

President Petro Poroshenko signed the law "On Prosecution Service" which revokes the function of general supervision of the Prosecution office.

This was announced by the president's press service, Censor.NET reports.

"The investigation should be transferred to the State Investigation Bureau. The last soviet vestige of the Ukrainian judicial system has been eliminated", - said the president when signing the law.

The law abolished the functions of Prosecution Service for supervision and enforcement of laws (the so-called "general supervision"). The main role in performance of such tasks is assigned to respective state authorities. The powers of the Prosecutor's office in the field of public relations not related to criminal proceedings shall be limited to its capacity to carry out activities related to the implementation of the constitutional functions of representing the interests of a citizen or the state in court.
