Russian FSB detains Ukrainian allegedly trying to enter occupied Crimea with handgun, ammo in her car

Members of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) claim they apprehended a Ukrainian national who allegedly tried to smuggle a firearm from the mainland Ukraine to occupied Crimea.

"Having passed the personal identity verification, the owner of a Ford tendered her vehicle for inspection during which the border guards found an unidentified handgun loaded with eight 9-mm cartridges," the FSB press office told Russian TASS news agency, Censor.NET reports.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Armiansk checkpoint.

"Explaining the presence of prohibited items in her car, the woman said that the handgun belonged to her father who kept it in the vehicle for self-defense," the occupiers said.

The firearm and ammunition were seized and sent for examination.
