Over 2,300 Ukrainians detained or convicted in Russian Federation in past three years, - Foreign Ministry

Over the past three years, more than 2,300 Ukrainian nationals have been detained or convicted in the Russian Federation.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to Interfax-Ukraine, spokesperson for the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Vasyl Kyrylych, told a briefing on Friday.

"More than 2,300 Ukrainian citizens have been detained or convicted in the Russian Federation over the past three years," Kyrylych said.

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iryna Herashchenko, who represents Ukraine at peace talks on the Donbas in Minsk, Belarus, earlier said that the newly created presidential body will be coordinating issues of providing assistance to Ukrainian nationals illegally held in the Russian Federation.
