Members of Parliament Didn't Allow the ATO Soldiers to Vote on Oct. 26

The law which was supposed to allow the participants of ATO to vote on the Oct.26 parliamentary elections was not supported by the Verkhovna Rada deputies on Monday. The Rada website published the list of those who opposed the draft.

The deputies did not even put the respective draft #5157-1 into agenda, which draft was presented by the "Narodnyi Front" (People's Front) representative Leonid Yemets. The law would have allowed the soldiers cuttently protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the East to exercise their right to vote in parliamentary elections, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.

The Speaker Olexandr Turchynov put it for voting for several times, but there were not enough votes for adding the draft to the agenda. Many deputies, including those running for the Verkhovna Rada at the nearest elections, did not support the draft.

Members of the following parties, who also run for deputies again, were among those against the draft: Opposition Block, "Sylna Ukraina" (Strong Ukraine), "Batkivshchyna" (Native Land), Poroshenko Block, as well as several dozens of current members of Parliament who run for the Rada through majority election system.
