Ukraine lodges protest as two Czech politicians visit Russian-occupied Crimea

Ukraine's Embassy in the Czech Republic voiced protest over the visit of two Czech politicians to the Crimean peninsula occupied by the Russian Federation.

"We express our strongest protest over the illegal visit of Jaromir Kohlicek, a member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic, and Jaroslav Doubrava, a senator of the parliament of the Czech Republic, to the Russian-occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The issue concerns another violation of Ukrainian legislation by the said politicians who, despite repeated warnings, continue to blatantly ignore not only Ukrainian laws, but also international law,"  the embassy said in a statement on Monday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

The statement says that most Czech politicians and government officials are unequivocally support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemn Russian aggression, as well as Moscow's occupation of part of Ukrainian territory.

"To somehow whitewash their crimes, Russia is chaotically searching around the world for politicians with a lower threshold of political hygiene, who are ready to participate in propaganda voyages to the occupied peninsula. Unfortunately, several such politicians were found in the Czech Republic," the statement reads.

The embassy says Ukraine reserves the right to impose an entire range of sanctions envisaged by Ukrainian legislation against foreigners who blatantly and consistently violate the rules of entry into the occupied territories.
