This was said by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov upon completion of the tests, Censor.NET reports citing the press office of the NSDC.
According to him, production of ammunition that had not previously been manufactured in Ukraine was launched in the shortest possible terms in line with the NSDC resolution.
"An important stage of testing the sought-after 152-mm projectiles, as well as 60-mm shells for the latest Ukrainian mortars was completed," the NSDC secretary said. He added that two versions of the new 60-mm and 82-mm mortars were also tested. The experts also checked 120-mm mortars safety.
Turchynov also said that the ballistic performance were checked with "a unique advanced system - a mobile radar-based trajectory-measuring system. What's unique about it is that it can track the trajectory of not only artillery and mortar shells, or missiles, but even bullets," he added.
The NSDC chief also stressed that the tested ammunition and artillery weapons "were produced by both state and private enterprises, which ensures transparent competition to improve their quality and, accordingly, cut down the price."
"I want to emphasize that all the tests were successfully completed. Ukrainian weapons and ammunition showed performance as specified by manufacturer and will be soon included in the inventory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will boost our army's firepower," Turchynov summed up.
