"Good news from Brussels! As a follow-up to the agreements reached at Ukraine-EU Summit, the EU envoys made a decision to impose personal sanctions against six individuals involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait bridge," Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko wrote on social media July 18, Censor.NET reports.
"This testifies to the inevitability of the punishment for any individual or legal entity that had, have or will have something to do with actions related to the attempt of annexation and temporary occupation of Ukrainian Crimea." he added.
Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin urged the European Union to impose sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in Russian-occupied Crimea and those involved in construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait.
On June 18, the EU Council extended Crimea-related sanctions against Russia until June 23, 2019.
