"We’ve warned all airlines that we stop turning blind eye to minor irregularities," - Infrastructure Minister Omelian

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine initiates enhanced monitoring of air carriers.

Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian told journalists, Censor.NET reports.

He stressed that solving tourism-related issues is within the purview of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The Infrastructure Ministry intends to propose the Economy Ministry to withdraw license of the travel company Oasis Travel.

As for the airlines, the Infrastructure Ministry is going to initiate their enhanced monitoring.

"There is a strict supervision over technical condition of the aircraft. Those people who checked the condition of the aircraft will be held accountable for any violations, if something happens to the plane. Moreover, this is a two-stage monitoring as it is carried out both in Ukraine and abroad. Taking this into account, it's simply impossible to issue empty pieces of paper. The people understand that this implies personal responsibility. Therefore, I have no worries about the technical condition at all. But the fleet consists of high-life aircraft and certainly the old planes break down more often than the new ones," he said.

According to him, the control will be much tighter.

"We’ve warned all the airlines that we stop turning a blind eye to some minor irregularities. This will not be happening again despite their requests and complaints," Omelian added.
