Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained former deputy chairman of the Olenevka village council (the Autonomous Republic of Crimea), who joined the occupiers, assisted the Russian occupying authorities to hold illegal referendums, and took part in illegal elections on the temporarily occupied peninsula.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to the statement by the SBU press service, while investigating the criminal case initiated under part 1 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the law enforcers found that the perpetrator decided to move to the mainland Ukraine after he failed to make successful political and business career under the occupying authorities of Crimea. The former deputy chairman of the village council settled in the Kyiv region where he tried to run a business.

The SBU officers carried out authorized searches at the suspect’s home where they found and seized receipts saying that the perpetrator was paid for organizing and proper running of the so-called "referendum on the status of Crimea"; the decision of the illegal "municipal entity" – Olenivka Village Council of the Chornomorsk district of the Republic of Crimea – on dissolution of the executive committee of the Olenivka Village Council and appointing the detainee chairman of the winding-up board; the decision of the so-called "territorial election commission of the Chornomorsk district of the Republic of Crimea to register him as candidate for the members of the Olenivka Village Council; flash drive and a laptop containing documents confirming the detainee's cooperation with the occupying authorities; the collaborator’s Russian Unity party membership card.

Criminal proceedings are underway. The law enforcers are going to serve the suspect with papers charging him of committing the aforementioned offenses.
