As reported by Censor.NET, the JFO headquarters press office released the picture of the Russian top-secret electronic warfare (EW) system taken by the military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at the Novoazovsk wind power station on June 13, 2018.
"The picture was taken on June 13, 2018 on the territory of the Novoazovsk wind power station. The EW system is presumably installed atop of one of the wind turbines. This is evidenced by the following reference points: No. 1 - wind turbine; No. 2 - wind turbine; No. 3 - bend of the wood line; No. 4 - bend of the wood line.
"The image shows the electronic warfare system (two Soviet-era circle-shaped antennas, two solar batteries). The system is presumably used for wiretapping and shortwave frequency radio direction finding. There is also a person dressed in the Russian military uniform next to the antenna. It is conceivable that the person on the picture is a member of a combat support unit or a military adviser – the so-called "instructor" of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, " the statement reads.
The JFO headquarters also said that the person that took the picture is most likely not local: "this is evidenced by his age (the majority of local militants are much older) and his actions – the local militants are strictly forbidden to make pictures that disclose location of positions and military equipment and they have no access to the EW hardware. However, the person on the picture stands near the classified EW system and feels free to take the pictures disclosing its location."
