We must maintain pressure on Russia regarding all political prisoners without exception, - Klimkin on recent Ukraine peace talks

On June 11, the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Ukraine, and Russia held talks on Ukraine conflict in Berlin.

"Pavlo Klimkin on the outcomes of the Normandy Four talks in Berlin: ‘We must maintain pressure on the Russian Federation regarding all political prisoners without exception," the Berlin-based Ukrainian Embassy quoted the foreign minister as saying, Censor.NET reports.

As reported by Interfax Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said following the Normandy Four meeting on June 11 that the foreign ministers of the Normandy Four managed to discuss a number of steps that would ensure a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.

"All sides once more voiced support for a lasting ceasefire, including the withdrawal of heavy weapons, the disengagement of troops and demining," he told a press conference.

At the same time, Maas spoke out for the protection and granting of access to observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"We had a very detailed and constructive dialogue with each other today," Maas said.

"Regarding the parameters of a possible UN mission for eastern Ukraine, we agreed to instruct our political directors to continue negotiations not about if but how such a mission could happen and discuss this in the coming weeks," Ukrinform quoted German FM as saying.

According to the German foreign minister, the parties agreed that they should stick to the Minsk peace plan from now on, including the removal of heavy weaponry from combat zones and a further exchange of prisoners.
