No fatalities in Ukrainian army over past day, two soldiers injured in 38 attacks; two invaders eliminated, three wounded in backfire, - JFO center

The situation in the Joint forces operation (JFO) zone remained tense over the past 24-hour period as combined Russian-separatist troops invited retaliation of the Ukrainian soldiers along the entire contact line.

Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the JFO headquarters press service as of May 23, 2018.

"In blatant violation of the Minsk agreements, the Russian-occupation troops committed 38 attacks on our defenders including eight mortar strikes. The JFO units adequately responded to all the enemy attacks," the statement reads.

The agency said the fiercest assaults were committed in the vicinity of Krymske, Troitske, Zaitseve, Butivka mine, Hranitne, Opytne, and Pavlopil.

"Two our defenders were injured in action. They were taken to a hospital where they received professional medical care. Intelligence sources indicate that two invaders were killed and another three were injured in retaliation fire," the situation report says.

The press service also noted that the Russian-occupation troops once again violated cease-fire near the village of Stanytsia Luhanska to disrupt the pre-agreed disengagement of troops in this area.

"No Ukrainian serviceman was killed in combat operations today," the agency said.
