Five crime rings, 320 persons, 35 FCs from 10 Ukraine’s regions, - Interior minister dwells on probe into fixing football matches

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov disclosed details of the two-year long probe into rigging football games that was initiated by the Prosecutor General's Office.

"The National Police of Ukraine has completed a two-year long investigation aimed at putting an end to the practice of rigging football games: the law enforcers documented involvement of five crime rings, 320 individuals, 35 football clubs based in 10 regions. For the first time well-founded charges are brought against not only the players but also against the masterminds. Football matches must be fair!" Avakov tweeted on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports.

On May 22, Ukraine’s law enforcers carried out a state-wide manhunt for those involved in fixing football matches.
