Large-scale manhunt for rigged matches’ organizers underway in Ukraine: coaches, referees, FC presidents in cross-hairs

Since the morning of May 22, Ukraine’s law enforcers have been engaged in a state-wide manhunt for those involved in fixing football matches.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Football 24 media outlet, the law enforcement agencies conducted more than 50 searches in nine regions of Ukraine.

Investigators indicate that five crime rings are involved in this activity.

Those suspected of rigging football matches include players, coaches, referees, and presidents of football clubs. No names of detained football-related persons have been released so far.

According to FootballHub outlet, searches were in particular conducted at premises associated with Oleksandr Sevidov (former coach of Mariupol, Metalist, and Karpaty football clubs), head coach of Mykolaiv FC Ruslan Zabranskyi, and four referees: Yevhen Aranovskyi, Viktor Aranovskyi, Oleksandr Pavliuk, and Oleksandr Sakhno.
