Ukrainian troops came under 66 attacks yesterday including multiple rocket launcher strikes: five invaders killed, eight injured in backfire, - JFO center

The situation in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) zone significantly deteriorated over the past 24 hours: hostilities were recorded along the entire line of contact.

Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the JFO headquarters press service as of May 16.

"Disregarding international agreements, the Russian-occupation troops violated ceasefire 66 times yesterday. Mortars, artillery and multiple rocket launchers were used by the invaders in 25 of those attacks. The enemy blanketed our troops’ positions near Avdiivka with Grad multiple rocket launchers around 9 p.m. The JFO units maintained active defense and adequately responded to the enemy attacks," the statement reads.

The agency said that in Luhansk direction, active hostilities were recorded in the vicinity of Novozvanivka and Troitske villages. The contact detachments of the Ukrainian troops took effective measures against the enemy snipers.

At Donetsk section of the forefront, the enemy reportedly intensified attacks on the outskirts of Luhanske, Svitlodarsk, Novoluhanske, and Maiorsk. Hostilities are underway near Avdiivka’s industrial zone and Opytne village.

In Mariupol direction, the enemy stepped up offensive operations not far from Vodiane, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne villages.

No Ukrainian soldier was killed or injured today, May 17.

"Intelligence sources indicate that five invaders were killed and eight were injured in retaliation fire," the situation report reads.
