"The Russian-occupation troops violated cease-fire 45 times using heavy weapons in 17 of the attacks. The invaders once again disregarded the norms of the International Humanitarian Law by shelling Novhorodske village with 82-mm mortars at about 6 a.m. yesterday," the situation report reads.
The agency noted that in the Luhansk region, the fiercest attacks were recorded in the vicinity of Troitske and Novozvanivka villages. At Donetsk section of the forefront, JFO units maintained active defense near Travneve, Zaitseve, Zalizne, Verkhniotoretske, and Pisky.
Intelligence sources indicate that two Russian-backed militants were killed and three were injured in action over the past day. In Mariupol direction, the enemy attacks were given an adequate response near Talakivka and Shyrokyne.
"One of our defenders was killed and two more were injured in combat operations. The injured were promptly taken to hospitals," the statement reads.
The intensity of enemy attacks decreased on the night of May 16. Today, the invaders used only small arms to invite retaliation of the Ukrainian troops. No battle casualties were recorded among the Ukrainian soldiers as of 7 a.m. today.
